Order the Crescent Lufkin T066N Red End 5/8" x 6' Wood Rule for just $10.00 — discounted from $17.50. Carpenters, framer crews, and DIYers use this classic extension rule for stud layout, framing, and inside measurements where a tape won't hold form. Buy online today.
The red markings at every 16-inch interval let you lay out wall studs on plates without a separate tape or calculator — extend the rule along a bottom or top plate and read stud positions directly. For general framing layout, fold the rule to carry, extend to measure, and use the rigid body to transfer inside dimensions.
Every side and edge is graduated to 1/16ths in black, with red numerals highlighting 16-inch stud centers so framing intervals stand out at a glance.
Stud layout, framing, carpentry, masonry coursing, and inside dimension transfer — anywhere a rigid, folding rule beats a floppy tape.
Versus tape measures, the T066N stands rigid and reads quickly for repetitive layout. Versus digital rules, it never needs batteries. At $10.00 versus $17.50 you save $7.50 — apply coupon SAVE15 for an extra 15% off, with free shipping on orders over $45.

A $10.00 classic: 6 feet of rigid, 1/16th-graduated wood rule with red 16-inch stud centers built for framing layout.
Tapes flex and retract; the T066N stays rigid for inside dims and repeat layout. Digital rules cost more and need batteries. This rule is the affordable, reliable choice.
Extend the rule along your wall plate and read the red 16-inch interval markings — each red mark is a stud position, so layout takes seconds without a tape.
Black graduations to 1/16ths appear on both sides and both edges for standard measuring, and red numerals mark 16-inch stud centers for framing layout.

Yes — for repetitive 16-inch layout the red stud marks are faster to read than counting tape increments, and the rigid body works better for inside measurements.
5/8 inch wide, 6 feet long when fully extended, graduated in 1/16ths on both sides and edges, with a black finish.
My grandfather was a carpenter and I wanted the same rule he used. This one feels identical — solid brass slide, crisp graduations, and those red stud markings are still the fastest way to lay out framing.
Reads clearly and the wood has a nice finish. Numbers are easy to see at arm's length. I wish the slide was a touch stiffer, but it works fine.
Exactly what a folding rule should be.
I've been framing houses for twenty years and still reach for a wood rule over a tape for most layout work. The red 16-inch stud center markings on both sides save me a ton of time marking studs, and the 1/16 graduations are cleanly stamped, not printed, so they don't rub off. The rule opens and closes smoothly and the joints still feel tight after a few months on site. It fits in a nail bag pocket without any fuss. For ten bucks this is a no-brainer.
The markings are sharp and the red stud centers are genuinely handy. Unfortunately one of the folding joints was loose right out of the box, so the rule doesn't hold a straight line perfectly. Still usable for rough layout, but I expected better fit and finish.
Bought this to keep at my workbench for inside measurements and marking. The brass extension is useful for measuring depths in tight spots. Quality is better than the price suggests.
The main rule body is fine, but the brass slide extension came bent and won't seat properly. Packing was just a thin sleeve, so probably shipping damage. Returning it.
Made in the USA quality feel, legible markings, and it folds flat. Reminds me of the rules my dad carried. Highly recommend.
