Tekton PRR90003 7 Inch Retaining Ring Pliers Set, 2-Piece (Internal and External, 0.070 in. Tips)

Cheap retaining ring pliers always have sloppy tips that pop out of the ring holes mid-compression — these don't. The 0.070 tips fit cleanly and the spring return works smoothly. Did both axle rings on my lawn tractor in minutes.

Both internal and external work as advertised. The handles are a little slick with oily hands but the tips are precise. Would buy again.

No complaints, solid set.

I've been through three cheap retaining ring pliers that either bent tips or lost grip. This Tekton pair is on another level. The 7-inch length gives enough leverage for the heavier rings on my ATV suspension without the handles flexing, and the tips are hardened — no mushrooming after a dozen jobs. Internal and external each have their own tool so there's no convertible-junk mechanism to fail. At 50% off this was an easy call.

Does the job on smaller rings. I found the tips slightly loose in the ring holes on bigger rings and had to be careful. For the sale price it's acceptable, just don't expect tool-truck quality.

The return spring on the external pliers popped out of its seat after about three weeks of light garage use. The pliers still function manually but it's annoying. Disappointed given the brand reputation.

I'm retired after 35 years as a millwright and I've used every brand of ring pliers out there. These Tektons have the right tip geometry and the grip spread is comfortable for my older hands. Held up fine rebuilding the pump on my well system. Good honest tools at a fair price.

Used both on a gearbox rebuild last month, zero tip slippage. Case would be nice but not a dealbreaker.
