GEARWRENCH 82255 3 lb Drilling Hammer with Fiberglass Handle and Cushioned Grip

Bought this for driving star drills in the shop and it hasn't flinched after months of daily use. The fiberglass handle soaks up the shock way better than my old steel-handled club. Grip stays put even with sweaty hands.

Good weight for chisel work, and the cushioned grip makes a real difference over a full afternoon. Paint chips off the head quickly but that's purely cosmetic.

Exactly what I needed for punch work. No regrets.

It's a well-built hammer and the vibration damping is real, but 3 lbs wears my wrist out faster than I anticipated. Fine for short sessions, less great for long ones. Probably better suited to bigger hands than mine.

I've been using this with star drills on concrete block for a backyard retaining wall project. Three pounds is the sweet spot — enough mass to bite, not so much that you can't control it overhead. The over-molded grip has zero slip even when my gloves get wet, and the fiberglass shaft hasn't shown any stress marks. For twelve bucks this embarrasses hammers costing three times as much.

Worked great for the first couple weeks, then the head developed noticeable play in the handle. Maybe I got a bad one, but I expected better from this brand.

Grandson got me this for fence post work and I've ended up using it for everything from driving stakes to tapping chisels. Comfortable to hold, well balanced. The face shows some mushrooming after hard use but nothing serious yet.
