2 lb soft brass head that is non-sparking and designed to prevent damage to the work surface — ideal for use near combustible materials.
Machined flat for the most even blow distribution across contact surfaces.
Flame-treated hickory, clear lacquered, and securely wedged into the hammer head for lasting durability and a natural grip.
Common uses for the 81-112G include driving bushings and gears, seating bearings, pressing pins, and any striking task near flammable materials where a steel hammer would spark or mar the part. Compare the 81-112G vs. 81-111G: the 81-112G is the heavier 2 lb head for more driving force, while the 81-111G is the lighter option for finer work.
Versus steel hammers, brass transfers force without marring machined surfaces; versus rubber mallets, brass delivers far more driving power for pressed-fit parts.
At $22.08 with 50% off, this is an affordable buy on a USA-made specialty hammer. Stack coupon SAVE15 for more savings; orders over $45.00 ship free (standard shipping $8.00).

Brass strikes harder than rubber without sparking or marring like steel — the ideal middle ground for machined parts and flammable environments.
Non-sparking is the whole reason I bought this and it doesn't disappoint. The 2 lb head has enough mass to seat bushings without deforming them. Hickory handle feels solid and has absorbed a few misses without complaint. Made in USA too, which I'm happy to pay for.
Exactly what I needed. Well made.
I use this mostly for tapping gears onto shafts and it's been great. The brass head shows some mushrooming after a few months, but that's expected with brass. Comfortable hickory grip, nice balance. Wish it came a hair cheaper, but quality is there.
I do fuel pump work and can't risk sparks near vapors. This hammer gives me real striking power without the worry. Head is nicely machined and the handle finish is smooth. Highly recommend for anyone in the trade.
Does the non-sparking job fine and the handle is comfortable. However the brass face is already dented pretty badly after a couple weeks of bearing work. Might just be the nature of brass, but I expected a bit more durability for the price.
Been wrenching for 35 years and this is the first brass hammer I've owned that feels like it'll outlast me. Good weight, good balance, no sparks near the diesel tank. The hickory handle soaked in some boiled linseed oil beautifully.
Loved the brass head at first, but the hickory handle developed a split near the head after about a month of light shop use. Maybe I got a bad one, but disappointing for a USA-made tool.
