GearWrench 81027 1/4" Drive Gimbal Ratchet, 72-Tooth, 5° Swing Arc

The gimbal head plus 5-degree swing arc got me to a bolt under my dash that I genuinely thought was unreachable. Smooth 72-tooth action. This thing is a problem solver.

Well built and the flex head is impressive, but honestly I only reach for it when nothing else works. When I do need it, it's a lifesaver. Four stars because it's specialized.

The 72-tooth mechanism is buttery smooth and the gimbal action has just the right amount of resistance. I used it on under-dash HVAC work where a normal ratchet couldn't swing at all. The compact head fits into spaces I couldn't even see into properly. Fit and finish are excellent, typical GearWrench. No regrets at this price.

Quality is there but the 1/4 drive limits torque. Fine for light-duty tight-space work, which is what it's designed for. Just know what you're buying.

The gimbal on mine flops around more than I'd like, making it hard to keep on the fastener. Maybe mine is a lemon but disappointing.

Smooth action, fits anywhere. Great addition to the toolbox.

I restore old boats as a retirement hobby and this ratchet got me into a bracket behind the helm that would have required cutting an access panel otherwise. The short swing arc means you're ratcheting in tiny movements and the gimbal keeps the socket seated at odd angles. My son borrowed it and immediately ordered his own. Terrific tool.

Used it on alternator bolts in a cramped engine bay and it handled everything. The 5-degree arc really matters when you only have a couple inches of swing. Only wish the handle was a touch longer.
