Tekton 3/8 Inch Drive x 8 Inch Non-Quick-Release Ratchet (SRH01108), 90-Tooth Ultra-Compact Head

Four degrees of swing doesn't sound like much until you're working in a cramped engine bay where you can barely move the handle. This ratchet arcs through tight spaces where my old 24-tooth needed a full swing. The head is genuinely compact — fit between the alternator and block on a Corolla where nothing else would. Smooth action, no play, solid detent. For $22.50 on sale this is absurd value. Non-quick-release actually grips bits and sockets with zero wobble, which I prefer for hex bit sockets anyway.

Feels like a $100 ratchet.

Bought this to replace a Craftsman that finally gave up. The 90-tooth mechanism is smooth and the compact head gets into spots my other ratchets can't. Build quality is honestly impressive for the price. My only complaint is the handle knurling is a bit shallow — with oily hands I wish there was more grip. Otherwise excellent, and I'd buy another.

Owned Mac, Matco, Snap-on ratchets over the decades. Is this on their level? Close enough that I don't care. The fine-tooth action is genuinely impressive, zero back-drag, and the 8-inch length is perfect for most automotive work — not too stubby, not too long. I keep it in the kitchen junk drawer for household repairs now, if that tells you anything about how much I trust it.

Works fine and the compact head is nice. The forward/reverse lever is pretty stiff to flip though, annoying with gloves on. Hopefully it loosens up over time. Ratcheting action itself is smooth.

Lost the first one at a job site (RIP) and immediately ordered a replacement. That says everything. Perfect for dash work and tight interior panels where the short length and fine ratcheting shine. The non-QR design has never once dropped a socket on me.

Loved this ratchet at first — the fine teeth and small head were exactly what I wanted. But after maybe four months of regular garage use, it started slipping under load and has noticeable play in the head. Might be a lemon. Tekton's warranty is supposedly good so I'll try an exchange, but I expected more.

8 inches is the sweet spot for me. Fits my hand, fits my tool bag, fits tight spots. The 4-degree swing arc makes short work of stubborn bolts in cramped quarters. Half price sale made this a no-brainer purchase. Highly recommend for anyone building a toolbox.
